Company
The company
An independent trading house in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG), supplying internationally. Buyers deal with one point of contact for several product streams instead of a chain of interchangeable middlemen.

Why a trading house between the regions?
One point of contact instead of a chain of intermediaries
In this market, commodities often pass through several intermediaries. Each of them knows only a fragment of the deal and has no capital, no storage and no interest in the goods beyond its own commission. KOTA PETROCHEMICALS brings several product streams together under a single point of contact.
This applies equally to lubricants, base oils, additives, fertilisers and industrial chemicals. The same operation in the target markets often needs several of these product groups at once, yet a single supplier rarely trades them together.
Supplying worldwide from Erbil describes the actual work of a trading house at this location: consolidating goods from several origins, documenting them and bringing them to where they are needed.
Market roles
Four roles in commodity trading
| Type | Role | Where KOTA stands |
|---|---|---|
| Producer | Manufactures the goods, mostly sells in bulk quantities on long contract terms and without mixed cargoes. | KOTA is not a producer and operates no refinery or plant of its own. |
| Physical trader | Buys and sells at its own risk, has access to storage capacity and charter agreements, takes on consolidation and logistics. | This is where KOTA stands: as a physical trader between producers and buyers. |
| Agent or representative | Mediates on behalf of a principal for commission, without capital or storage of its own in the business. | Not a role of KOTA. Where an agent acts, there is no performance risk of its own behind the deal. |
| Broker | Pure brokering between two parties without ownership of the goods, often without any capital commitment. | Not a role of KOTA. This segment carries the highest exposure to fraud in the market. |
A physical trader differs from a chain of intermediaries in capabilities a buyer can check: opening a letter of credit, access to storage tanks and charter agreements, and discussing specifications on their merits instead of passing on price lists.

These are the details we ask of every trading partner on this page, and we hold ourselves to the same requirement.
A mining operation needs lubricant for its fleet and chemicals for processing. The breadth of the range means fewer suppliers for that buyer.
What you can check
How to recognise a genuine trading house
- 01
Letter of credit instead of prepayment
Settlement runs through a documentary letter of credit, payment against documents. Anyone who asks for a handling fee or down payment before delivery is not a supplier.
- 02
Independent inspection
SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas or Cotecna verify quantity and quality before loading. The certificate number can be verified directly with the inspection company.
- 03
Genuine register data
Commercial register number, licence and a physical office address instead of an anonymous contact address with no named contact.
- 04
No fees in advance
No handling fee, no commission and no reservation payment before a contract even exists.
These four points apply to every credible trading house, KOTA included. If a supplier cannot answer them, treat it as one more link in a chain of intermediaries.
